Accommodation
Fal River Cottage was built around 1835 and tastefully renovated in 2019, offering traditional features alongside modern-living luxuries.
To the front, there is a small decked area which is ideal for alfresco breakfasts. This leads into the lounge, which offers a log burner, TV, books and games.
To the rear of the cottage, there is a new kitchen/dining area, which is well equipped for home cooking.
Upstairs
Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, which share a traditional ‘Jack’n’Jill’ bathroom.
There is a spacious and light double bedroom with windows that allow you to watch the river as you lie in bed.
The second bedroom is a cosy single, which also serves as access to the rear garden.
Rear Garden
The rear garden features two seating areas which are ideal kicking back and lying down on those hot summer days.
Exploring the Neighbourhood
Malpas
The village of Malpas is a former vibrant river port which connected Truro (and it’s cathedral) to the Roseland Peninsula via a local ferry service.
Malpas is based on the confluence of the Tresillian and Truro rivers in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The Fal River Estuary, which is also known as Carrick Roads (Cornish Dowr Carrek, meaning “rock anchorage”) is a very popular location for many water sports.
The area around Malpas is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Its extensive mudflats are an important feeding ground for wildfowl and wading birds, whereas trees on the riverbanks provide shelter for nesting herons.
The village is also just outside the boundary of the Duchy of Cornwall estate on the banks of the Tresillian.
There is an abundance of beautiful walks along the river to choose from, as well as opportunities for paddleboarding and canoeing. Whatever your reason for getting away, you’re sure to find Fal River Cottage the perfect retreat for unwinding.
